This article by Russel Stanley at Escape Artists gives a great overview of living in Bogota. Many people think of Colombia has hot and tropical. While that is true for many parts, Bogota is not tropical. As Russel points out, "Bogota's climate is spring-like every day of the year. Daytime temperatures average 68F deg. (19C), and at night it drops on to about 50Fdeg (10C). " The reason of couse is because of the elevation of Bogota at about 9,000 feet about sea level. Check out his article for a good overview of the cost of living, food, clothing, fast food (ugh), housing, transportation and more. Quality of Life and Cost of Living in Bogota

The expat exchange website has lots of information and resources for the expat moring to Colombia. They offer advice on: - Financial Advice
- Work abroad Advice
- City Profiles (though listed on the Colombia home page there are actually no profiles for cities in Colombia).
This actually looks like the "Colombia Network" is just a bunch of links to generic expat resources and not much about Colombia. I'd skip this one! Moving to Colombia, Living in Colombia, Working in Colombia: ExpatExchange.com

Passport Free Caribbean is a nice blog post about why with the new U.S. Passport rules Culebra, Puerto Rico is the place to go!I was having a nice time with their post until I read this: "and you can take the $75.00 that you would have spent on getting a passport and instead you can have a nice meal out while you are here." Wow! One meal for $75!! I say... spend the $75 on a passport and have a real adventure. Try a caribbean adventure in San Andres, COLOMBIA! That $75 might buy you a great dinner every night for a week! Plus a passport is good for 10 years, a dinner in Puerto Rico is just one night! Spend a few more dollars for a flight to Bogota and buy some real Colombian emeralds for much less than you would back home. Pick up a few for friends and pay for you whole trip! Your choice: Puerto Rico: Boring. Colombia: Adventure!
